Reception
Upon its release, reviews were positive. Writing for Thrash Hits, Hugh Platt compared them to countrymen Orange Goblin, saying "the brute force/blunt object approach of Viking Skull is a perfect antidote to fret-wank metal everywhere. If it turns out that Lemmy isn’t actually immortal and Motörhead ever retire, then we’ve found someone ably positioned to step up and take their mantle as Britain’s Baddest Bastards." Likewise, allmusic writer Ned Raggett gave the release 3.5 stars of a possible 5. He wrote "[on their third album, Viking Skull] are clearly dedicated to the task of riffs that collapse skulls and hooks that roar with swagger...the band have a well-handled formula and collectively, they know how to deliver the material."
