Dongri

Dongri is an area in Mumbai just north of Gorai. The word 'Dungare' (Workmen's overalls worn in Britain) also has its origin from Dongri because these dresses were made from cloth from this place. The History of Dongri dates back to the 1600s, when the Portuguese ruled the area. The Church of Dongri, named as Our Lady of Bethlehem dates back to 1613, an inscription on the main entrance of the Church tells us. [1]
