Mitchell played college football at Southern Methodist University and was drafted by the Titans in the fourth round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He played in 44 games and six playoff games for the Titans between 1999 and 2002. In 1999, the Titans made it to Super Bowl XXXIV in which Mitchell appeared as a substitute,[1] however they lost to the Kurt Warner-led St. Louis Rams.
