Dominic Marsh is an English actor, best known for his role as Smithy in the BBC soap opera, Doctors

Career

He appeared in eight episodes of Doctors playing the character Noah 'Smithy' Smithson, a mentally ill patient who was the love interest of receptionist Ruth Pearce. The couple met at The Beeches mental institution.

Smithy returned to the serial in March 2010, appearing at Ruth's place of work. When Ruth discovered that he had been living outside she took him in and the two resumed their relationship for a while, but things didn't go to plan as Smithy had to be sectioned again.

Marsh also appeared in a one-off episode of the TV series Missing on BBC One, playing the character of Jamie Garrison, and he played the title role in the NFTS produced film "Our Name is Michael Morgan" which has been short listed for several film festivals through 2013-2014.

He has had several stage roles most notably playing in the West End productions of "Woman in Black" and "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg". Marsh most recently landed the lead role of Harry Witherspoon in the upcoming feature film of Lucky Stiff. It is due for 2014 release at the Montreal Film Festival and the Raindance Film Festival. In 2014 he also created the role of Macheath in Kneehigh's Dead Dog in a Suitcase (& Other Love Songs).

He made his debut as a writer in 2013, working in collaboration with Dougal Irvine to create the musical The Other School for the National Youth Music Theatre. It was performed at the St James Theatre, London in August 2013. It has since been published by Rodgers & Hammerstein Theatricals, part of Imagem Publishing.

Personal life

Marsh is married to Selina Chilton, best known for playing Ruth Pearce in Doctors. They live in London.
