DomainTools, LLC provides DNS research tools that use a database of domain name, IP address, and whois data. These tools are used for brand protection, domain monitoring, domain valuation, and cybercrime investigation.[1][2] Other services include a name suggestion, patented reverse IP address, and a combined screenshot history view that incorporates millions of screenshots that shows how website looked recently and in the past. As of August 2012, DomainTools was ranked as the 214th site for global Internet traffic according to Alexa rankings.[3]

Founded in 2002 by Jay Westerdal, DomainTools was later sold to Thought Convergence, Inc. in 2008. DomainTools is based in Seattle, Washington.[4]


WHOIS function

The WHOIS function is an online database where people can search a DOMAIN-NAME and find out the contact information of the DOMAIN-OWNER.
