Djuradj Vujcic[a] is a Canadian sports journalist and translator.[1] He is the co-founder, owner and editor-in-chief of the Urban Book Circle.[2]

He has contributed as a correspondent for B92 Sport[3][4][5] and is a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists and the Royal Canadian Legion.[6]

Life

In 2005, Vujcic illustrated the book Deveto koleno sve/mira written by his father Prvoslav Vujcic.[7] In October 2006, he was awarded the title of "youngest sports journalist in Canadian journalism history" due to his article published in Mi magazin[8] and Sportski žurnal.[8]

From 2007 to 2009, he was the editor-in-chief of the Serbian White Eagles FC website. From 2009 to 2011, he worked for Rogers TV as an assistant to Kate Beirness and for Serbian TV Toronto.

In 2009, he won the Literary Guild Award for his work.[9] A year later, he was chosen as a "young talent of the Serbian diaspora."[10] Vujcic has also worked with Boris Spremo and Radio Television of Serbia.[11]

Since 2012, he contributes articles to RedNation Online.[12]

He runs the Gravediggers Toronto 1987 fan-club which plans to organize an international friendly match between FK Partizan and Toronto FC.[13] After it was reported in late 2011 that Rivaldo wanted to join Partizan, Vujcic and Gravediggers Toronto 1987 organized a petition to convince the Partizan management to sign Rivaldo to a one-year deal. The petition was signed by 14,224 people.[14]

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II Karadjordjevic has recommended him for his Photoshop, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office skills.[11]

Vujcic was first to break the news that Veljko Paunović is going into coaching.[15] In June 2013, it was rumoured that Dejan Stanković would extend his career and sign with Toronto FC. Vujcic wrote a critique of Stanković, convincing the Toronto FC staff not to sign him. Stanković subsequently retired.[16]

After the 2014 Southeast Europe floods, the Urban Book Circle donated over $50,000 CAD worth of sleeping bags and 300 kilograms of baby food to the areas affected in Serbia.[17]
