Divya Kumar is an Indian singer who has appeared in a number of Bollywood films.
Personal life
Divya comes from a musical family. His grandfather, Pandit Shivram, was a composer for many regional films in India, and for V Shantaram's films. Divya's father, Bhagwan Shivram, is a musician and has recorded with RD Burman, Jatin-Lalit and Himesh Reshamiyya.
Divya has been singing since the age of eight, and even as a child he appeared in quite a few stage shows. He considered other professions, but his mother urged him to pursue a career as a singer. He appeared in many shows while in Kalyanji Anandji's troupe, and more recently has worked with Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, and Javed Aliβall from the Kalyanji Anandji school of music.
Career
His first Bollywood break was with Ram Sampath on the film Tutiya Dil, which he recorded at Ram Sampath's personal studio. Since then, he has gone on to sing "Subhaarambh" for the film Kai Po Che, "Chanchal Man Ati Random" for the film Shudh Desi Romance, and was featured on "Diangad Diangad" from the film Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania.
He also sang in the Farhan Akhtar starrer movie Bhag Milkha Bhag, singing "Maston Ka Jhund" (music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy). In 2013, he performed in Finding Fanny and Ghanchakkar, and took part in MTV India's prestigious 'MTV Coke Studio' , which dedicated an entire episode to his hits. He has also took part in MTV's other prestigious musical show βMTV Unpluggedβ
