Disneytown is a planned shopping, dining, and entertainment complex at the Shanghai Disney Resort in Pudong, Shanghai, China. It is the Chinese equivalent of the Downtown Disney complexes at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts in the USA, Ikspiari at Tokyo Disney Resort, and Disney Village at Disneyland Paris, France.
Disneytown will be located near the two resorts and Shanghai Disneyland and feature entertainment in China at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre – along with dining and shops. This Art Deco theatre in Broadway Plaza will host the premiere of the Mandarin version of “The Lion King.”
At the heart of Disneytown will be the Marketplace – with specialty shops with Disney merchandise, musicians and entertainers. Next to the Marketplace will be an area called Spice Alley, offering a variety of Asian cuisine. Also near Disneytown will be the resort’s central lake area. The area includes a walking path and various gardens.[1]
