Diskreet is a death metal band based in Topeka, Kansas and formed in 2003. They are currently signed to UK based label Siege of Amida Records with US distribution from Candlelight Records.

History

The band was really started in 1999 by drummer Andy Taylor and others, but began recording and performing in the local Topeka music circuit around 2003. The band at this point including bassist Victor Polanco, guitarist Gerren Andres, and singer James Copeland (who replaced original vocalist Ryan Cox). Eventually Polanco left, and the band added bassist Steve Holder and guitarist Scott McPherson, though soon after Holder left and Polanco rejoined, and then left again directly after recording Infernal Rise. The band continued without a bassist while securing a record deal with newly formed UK label Siege of Amida Records and preparing for their first full tour alongside Necrophagist, Misery Index, and Origin all throughout Europe, with Unmerciful bassist Derek Engemann subbing. Afterwards, James Copeland left and was replaced with Stephen Babcock. Beside the tour with Necrophagist, the band did a summer run with labelmates Whitechapel, The Red Death, and The Partisan Turbine with Polanco coming back in to help for a final time. Shortly after, the band secured a regular bass player with former Eyes of the Betrayer bassist/singer Dustin Albright. Then, guitarist Scott McPherson went back to school, and he was replaced with former Obsidian Shore guitarist Clay Morales. After a brief December 2007 US tour with Brain Drill, Burning the Masses, and A Breath Before Surfacing, the band announced Morales was leaving, and explained that they would be writing their next record with Inferi guitarist Malcolm Pugh for a later 2008 release. Around the end of August of that year, Diskreet announced they had finished the writing process of their next album and would be recording it with Michael Keene of The Faceless at the end of September. Most recently, the group revealed the title of their next album as Engage the Mechanicality and that Dave Otero was mixing and mastering the album in Denver, CO. The effort was released on Europe's Siege of Amida Records on September 6, 2010, and on their US counterpart Candlelight Records on October 26, 2010.
