Diplodiscus verrucosus is a species of flowering plant in the Malvaceae sensu lato or Tiliaceae family. It is found only in Sri Lanka.
Leaves
variable, usually ovate to oblong, subcordate base, rounded apex, shallowly scalloped margins, stellate-scaly above, pubescent and whitish beneath.
Trunk
Bark - smooth; Wood - yellow, strong, heavy; young branches rough with peltate scales.
Flowers
pink-white, small, numerous, Inflorescence - erect, much branched terminal and axillary panicles.
Fruits
yellow, 5-angled, warty, pyriform capsule; persistent calyx.
Ecology
monsoon forest subcanopy, scrub.
Uses
Wood - utensils, handles, cart axles, wheels.
Culture
It is known as "දික්වැන්න - dikwenna" in Sinhala, and as "vidpani" in Tamil.
