Diospyros oppositifolia, is a tree in the Ebony family, native to southwestern parts of Sri Lanka. It is known as "Kalumediriya, Kalumaediriya, Kadumberiya" in Sinhala language.

Distribution

The plant was only found from Hiniduma in last few decades. But recently the plant was found also from both Sinharaja rainforest and Kanneliya.

Habitat & Ecology

Terrestrial. Trees can be from canopy to subcanopy in evergreen forests.

Threats

E. oppositifolia is threatened by encroaching chena cultivation, slash-and-burn cultivation and illegal logging of humans.
