Diospyros acuminata, is a tree in the Ebony family, endemic to Sri Lanka.

Leaves

lanceolate to ovate, rounded to acute base, acuminate apex, veins reticulate above and below, lateral veins about 7 pairs.

Trunk

Bark - smooth to finely fissured; Immature Bark - pale reddish to light brown; Wood - white; young branchlets densely tomentose.

Flowers

white with silky hairs, 1-3 together, axillary.

Fruits

globose, sparsely pilose, calyx not cup shaped, 3-lobed.

Ecology

rain forest understory of wet zone.
