Dimorphocalyx glabellus is a species of family Euphorbiaceae. It is a small evergreen tree endemic to Sri Lanka.
In Culture
It is known as "Weli wenna" in Sinhala and "tentukki" in Tamil.
Morphology
Leaves - lanceolate-oblong, tapering base, acuminate apex, dull dark green, margins entire to slightly dentate.
Trunk - Bark- cinnamon-gray; twigs slender.
Flowers - white.
Fruits - pubescent capsule surrounded by persistent calyx.
Ecology
Monsoon forest understory, scrub.
Uses
Whole plant is used as an important medicinal plant in Ayurveda.
