Dilshad Garden also known as DG by its residents is a large housing colony situated in North Delhi that was primarily developed by Delhi Development Authority (DDA). A nearby colony named Dilshad Colony is sometimes confused to be its part but it is a part of Seemapuri. DG falls under the Seemapuri Assembly constituency and currently the incumbent MLA is Dharmender Singh Koli from AAP

The area is divided into several Blocks and Pockets named from A through R. For a visitor sometimes finding his way may be a daunting task because of commercial activity/Shop even if he has correct address. Streets across blocks M, N,P, O,Q, I & L have become totally commercial with almost all road facing ground floor flats being turned into shops. Housing Blocks include N-Block, D-Pocket, M-Block,E-Pocket, B - Pocket, SG - Pocket, A - Block, B - Block, C - Block, J&K Pocket and R - Block. The later five blocks hold the best infrastructure and Resident Welfare Association. The area has a few eating junctions like Domino's, McDonalds, Haldiram's,Urban Punjab,Ambarsaria,Pummy restaurant's chain, Rahul's Mughlai Kitchen.

Transport

It is nearly 4 km from Anand Vihar Interstate Bus Terminus/Railway Station and about 3 km from Shahdara. There are several buses run by DTC that either terminate or touch DG from several parts of Delhi.

Several buses are also available for traveling to adjoining cities, Noida and Ghaziabad.

Dilshad Garden Metro Station and Jhilmil Metro station both are suitable for Dilshad Garden Residents.

Demographics

The area is quite densely populated with a good mix of people from all income groups, castes and religion featuring Hindus, Christians, Muslims and many others. Over several years DG has evolved very well and is now considered one of the best housing colonies developed by DDA. It has all the basic amenities maintained to a sufficiently pleasing level to meet the demands of the residents. Children's playgrounds, parks and parking lots are present in each of its blocks.Apart from this it has several training & coaching institutes offering courses in computer applications, engineering & medical entrance exams like Interactions, NIIT, Acharya, Narayana, IME, etc. English speaking, SSC and for govt. services preparation etc. Besides there is also an economics coaching institute for higher classes named "Economics Point" located at Pocket M. Hanuman Vatika attracts people from nearby colonies during the Dussehra festival celebrations.The area is also for its famous snooker and billiards clubs. There are plenty of snooker and gyms clubs in dilshad garden area. The area has a very famous car market nearby Bebe nanki gurudwara from where you can get all types of automobiles and auto related accessories at a very fair price.
