Dillenia retusa is a plant endemic to island of Sri Lanka, where it is known as ගොඩපර (godapara) by local people.
Leaves
large, obovate to oblong, tapering base, very obtuse apex, margins repand-serrate; petiole channelled above, swollen at base, pubescent.
Trunk
Bark - brownish gray; Wood - reddish brown, hard, durable.
Flowers
white, large, on long pubescent terminal peduncle.
Fruits
orange, depressed globose, finely pubescent, indehiscent.
Ecology
disturbed sites, scrub.
Uses
Wood - furniture, light construction; fruit - medicinal.
