Didn't We?

"Didn't We?" is a 1968 song written by Jimmy Webb and first recorded by Richard Harris on his 1968 album written and arranged by Webb, A Tramp Shining.[1] Frank Sinatra covered the song on his 1969 album My Way in an arrangement by Don Costa.

The copyright to "Didn't We?" and three other Webb songs was bought by Jobete Music in 1974.[2]

"Didn't We?" was covered by Michael Feinstein on his 2003 tribute album to Webb, Only One Life: The Songs of Jimmy Webb. Webb himself performed the song at a tribute to Feinstein in 2005.[3]

Matthew Greenwald, reviewing the song for Allmusic.com, described it as one of Webb's most "enduring melodies", comparing it to Burt Bacharach's work of the mid 1960s.[1] Greenwald describes the lyrics to "Didn't We?" as "... a heartfelt and bittersweet reflection on the end of a relationship during its final, claustrophobic hours."[1]
