Dhirendra Mehta, (Hindi: धीरेंद्र मेहता Gujarati: ધિરેન્દ્ર મેહતા born August 29, 1944 in Ahmedabad),[1] full name Dhirendra Pritamlal Mehta,[1] is a Gujarati novelist, poet, commentator and negotiator who won the 2010 Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati language for his novel Chhavni.[1][2][3] Based in Bhuj,[2] he did his BA degree in Gujarati in 1966.[1] He did his Ph.D. in 1976. His dissertation was named "Gujarātī Navalakathānō Upēyalakṣī Abhyāsa".[1] From 1970 to 1976, he taught Gujarati Literature in Gujarat College, Ahmedabad, and later in RR Lalan College.[1]
