Dhandera is a census town in Haridwar district in the state of Uttarakhand, India.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Dhandera had a population of 15,297. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Dhandera has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 62% and, female literacy is 48%. In Dhandera, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

A big military base is in the vicinity of this village,headquarter of Bengal Sappers.The village is a harmony of many cast and creed, primarily Hindu and Muslim Rajput. There were many renowned personalities in the past and at present which contributed for the development of the village in terms of infrastructure,education and bringing fame to the village. Thakur Surjan Singh of Dhandera was the Lawyer during British Peroid, they were three brothers, Thakur Surjan Singh, Thakur Kabaj Singh & Thakur Kapoor Singh. Thakur Surjan Sing was the founder member for Rajput Dharamshala situated at Khankhal Haridwar. Thakur Kapoor Singh family is running two school in the village, Shivalik Public School(By Thakur Padam Singh's Son) & Shree Yogeshwar Public School(By Thakur Jitender Pundir's Son). Thakur Jitender Pundir is currently BJP's Mandal President & a respected social worker. One of the families most talked about in the village is the family of seven engineers in the Muslim Rajputs.
