Destiny is fourth and final young-adult faerie novel in the New York Times best-selling Wings series[1] by Aprilynne Pike. It follows Pike's #1 New York Times best-selling debut, Wings,[2] and the direct sequels, Spells and Illusions.

Destined was released in the United States on May 1, 2012. It debuted at #115 on the USA Today Bestseller list.[3]

Plot

The trolls are immune to the fae's potions thanks to Klea's experimenting with Yuki the winter faerie. Klea turns out to be Callista, a Fall faerie who once lived in Avalon until she went too far and was to be burned at the stake. She survived and she took Yuki with her. They have a battle at Avalon with hundreds of trolls. But Klea/Callista was using them and they immediately fall to the ground dead after trying to defend Klea. Yuki finds out that Klea has been using her all along. She still in love with Tamani, and makes him a golden key that can open the gates of Avalon. While Klea thinks Laurel is obeying her to bring her the Winter faeries so she can destroy them,actually she goes to the World Tree to look for answers. The tree tells her :think the way she thinks like. Take care of my son. She goes back to the academy where she tries to make the antidote that was only made by Klea. She finds the secret ingredient and makes the antidote. She returns just in time to save Tamani and offers to save Klea but she refuses, stating before she dies, Dont want to live in your perfect world. Marion the Queen arrives. Jamison thinks that Chelsea and David have the right to return to Earth with the secrets.

Critical reception

Destined received critical acclaim prior to its release, garnering a starred review from VOYA.[4] New York Times best-selling young adult author Claudia Gray endorsed the book with a cover blurb stating, "The greatest part: the Wings series reaches the perfect ending. The worst part: it has to end!" The Romantic Times awarded Destined a "top pick," noting that "Pike’s clever and innovative way of reinventing fairy tales and myths to make them her own is wonderful...[The] story is rich in vivid details, action, adventure, and romance."[5]
