Demetris Christofi (Greek: Δημήτρης Χριστοφή; born September 28, 1988 in Sotira, Cyprus) is a Cypriot footballer who plays for FC Sion.

Christofi is a winger who tends to play as a centre-forward or second striker. He is highly regarded for his strong shot. He was considered one of the most promising young players in Cyprus.[1] His transfer from Enosis Neon Paralimni to Omonia was the most expensive transfer in the history of Cypriot football, reaching a reported cost of €800,000.[2]

He signed a 4-year contract with Omonoia earning about €150,000 annually. A contract clause enabled Onisilos Sotira and Enosis Neon Paralimniou each to gain 15% of the fee paid for any future transfer of the player. In June 2013, he was transferred to FC Sion for a fee of about 900 thousand euros.

International career

Christofi scored a brace in the first round of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign as Cyprus overturned an early deficit against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Playing as a lone striker up front without defensive assignments, he first managed to convert a curling cross with a header and then secured a surprising 2–1 away victory by racing away from Bosnian defensive pairing and coolly slotting home past Asmir Begović.
