Defence Business Services

History

DBS is the largest ‘Shared Services Centre’ in Europe and was initially set up by merging the pillars identified below. The merger was a result of Lord Levene’s Defence Reform report published in 2011.

Defence Business Services (DBS) is an organisation within the UK Government's Ministry of Defence with management currently outsourced to Serco and responsible for providing corporate services to the department. It was established in July 2011 by bringing together the following MOD executive agencies.

In 2014 the organisation evolved with the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency merging into Defence Business Services and continuing under the ‘Veterans UK’ name for continuity purposes.
