Deepan Chakravarthy

Deephan Chakkravarthy is an Indian singer. He is the son of, the great first playback singer in Tamil Film Industry "Isai Thendral" Shri.Tiruchi Loganathan" and grandson of a great Actress Shrimathi. C.T.Rajakantham.

Career

He made his debut into the music world in the year 1974 by performing various Stage shows. In 1975 he was first introduced to perform in AIl~India Radio By Shri. T. R.Papa. The same, year he was introduced to Doordarshan (IndianTelevision) By Shri. Thanjai Vanan. He has compeered and given various performances in Sun T.V., Jain T.V., Jaya TV, Raj TV, Tamil Television Network (France), and STAR Vijay. He has acted in several T.V. serials, including Ethanai Manithargal and Megala on Sun TV.

From the year 1978 he has been performing stage shows abroad in places like Malaysia, Singapore, London, France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Canada, Australia, Dubai, AbuDhabi, Kuwait, Sri Lanka & Lebanon. In most of these places his was the very first Tamil film music show to be conducted and also very successful. He has also done many shows for RTM Malaysia and SBC Singapore.

In 1980, he entered Tamil film industry as a playback singer. Introduced by Isai Gnani "Maestro" Shri. Ilaya Raja. The First song sung by him was "Oh Nenjame Ethu Un Raghame" with Shrimathi S.Janaki from the film Enakaka Kathiru - Music by Shri. Ilaya Raja. Directed by Shri. Nivas. Lyric by Shri. Gangai Amaran But the song which was first released was "Poongathave Thazh Thiravai" from the Film Nizhalgal Music by Shri. Ilaya Raja, Directed Shri.Bharathi Raja, Lyric by Shri.Gangai Amaran which gave him "Super Hit and his First Award".

He has also sung songs like THEN MHAZHAYE AND OH UYIR CHILAIYAE in the FIRST full Tamil private album composed By shri Shakthi Nathan produced by Mr. Neela Mayil Dhandabani from America which has been released both in India and America .

He is also singing for a lot of popular Music Directors and new Music Directors which will be releasing soon .

Acting career

He has also acted as hero in the movie Rani Theni directed by Shri G.N. Rangarajan and “MARUPATTA KONANGAL” directed by Shri Erode Murugesh.

He has acted in the movie Arasangam with “Shri. CAPTAIN VIJAYAKANTH” in the supporting role in which his acting was very much appreciated. This movie was directed by Shri. MADESH .

He has acted as the Superintendent of police in the Tamil film Veeramum Eeramum (2007). In its review of the film, The Hindu wrote that Chakravarthy "fits the role of police officer".^[1]

He is currently acting in movies such as VAMANAN, POOVA THALAYA and also working with big directors .

He is also acting in two television serials “Megala” in SUN TV in which he acting as Megala’s father which was appreciated world wide . And “Aaru Maname Aaru” in RAJ TV .

Awards

He received this "Thevar Award" from Shri.Amitabh Batchan. He received the "State Best Singer Award" for the year 1983 from Dr.Shri.M.G.R., Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the song "Poojaikaga", Film Kathal Oviyam, Music by Shri. Iliaya Raja, Directed Shri.Bharathi Raja, Lyric by Shri.Vairamuthu.

He has also received awards abroad.

1995 – “ ENNISAI THAMIZHAN ” Award from London North West Tamil Association.

1996 – “ ISAI VALLAL ” Award from International Movement For Tamil Culture, Canada.

1997 - “ KALAI SELVAN ” Award From German Tamil Sangam.

2001 – “ ISAI ARASAN ” Award Function from Indo Lanka Tamil Association, Lebanon .
