De Nobili School is situated at Sijua in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, India. Founded in 1975, it is a branch of the De Nobili Schools Group.
The De Nobili School shield displays part of a Sanskrit slogan Vidya Dadati Vinayam (Education Bestows Humility) in Devanagari script in the scroll under the school shield.[1] The school is named after a Jesuit, Roberto De Nobili, who was the first foreigner to master Sanskrit, incognito, in 16th century Madurai. He apparently conducted himself like an orthodox Brahmin and is even said[2] to have declared himself to be a descendant of Brahma.
The school has classes from Nursery to age 10th, with an extension of +2, branched with Commerce and Science. It follows the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education pattern of study. Though the students are charged a tuition fee, it is also funded by Bharat Coking Coal Limited.
The school will be shortly be transferred from Sijua(near Naya More) to its new site at Koradih(at present under construction). The school is recently going to organise its annual sports day on 15th December 2013 with a grand opening ceremony consisting of different cultural programs along with the centre of attraction i.e. tableau of Coal India and Jharkhand.
