Dawa wa Irshad

Dawa wa Irshad (Arabic: دعوة و إرشاد‎) is a Saudi Wahhabist organization, whose name translates to "Call and Guidance".

Overview

American intelligence analysts have alleged that it is a terrorist group,^[1] yet have employed the group to act as a mediator in discussions with Sunni militias in Iraq.^[2]

Its office in Mauritania was shut down by authorities.^[3]

Two of the allegations prepared for Guantanamo captive Mustafa Ibrahim Mustafa Al Hassan's Combatant Status Review Tribunal were:^[1]

• "The detainee is associated with the Dawa wa Irshad non-governmental organization."
• "Dawa wa Irshad is a terrorist organization."
