It was to be home to the Danville Express jr hockey team (team folded pre-season and never dropped a puck). Palmer Arena also is the home for the Eastern Illinois University Ice Hockey Club. It was home to the Danville Dashers hockey team from 1981 until 1986, the Danville Wings junior hockey team, the Danville Demolition indoor football team, and the Danville Pounders of the North Eastern Hockey League and the Danville Inferno (2008-2010). Starting in winter of 2011, it will be the home of the new Danville Dashers in the Federal Hockey League. In April of 2014, it was announced the arena would be the new home of the Danville RiverHawks of the Premier Basketball League.
