David Paciocco

David M. Paciocco

David M. Paciocco (LL.B. (U.W.O.), B.C.L. (Oxon.), LL.D. (Hon., Laurentian), of the Bar of Ontario, Full Professor)[1] is a judge of the Ontario Court of Justice, formerly a professor at the University of Ottawa assigned to the common law Section.[2] Since 1982 he has taught at the Faculty of Law classes pertaining to Evidence, Criminal Law, and Trusts. From 1981 - 1982 he taught at the University of Windsor “and as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 1989 - 90. He has worked as an Assistant Crown Attorney, and as a criminal defence counsel, doing appellate advocacy.”[1] In June 2005, Paciocco was nominated to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Laurentian University.[3]

Relationship with Andre Marin

David Paciocco has described himself as Ontario Ombudsman Andre Marin ‘s “mentor.” In 2010 a Toronto Star investigation revealed that since becoming the ombudsman for the Canadian military in 2001 and then Ontario Ombudsman in 2005, Marin had awarded Paciocco over $250,000 in untendered government contracts, paid for by Canadian and then Ontario taxpayers.[4]
