David Muhammad

David Muhammad was born on August 17, 1970 (Marcus Garvey Day) in Somerset England. Muhammad has spent years motivating and inspiring audiences of all ages to take their rightful place in the world by embracing education, liberation and empowerment. David is the author of the book: The Black Studies Anthology - An ordinary level, academic course covering the subject areas of Black history; its economics, philosophy, psychology, education, and creative expression. In its first year, some 1700 copies were sold. It is no surprise that another edition of this successful book is in the making, and is carded to be launched in 2015. He is a contributing writer to the T&T Mirror and Final Call Newspaper [1] the most widely circulated international Black publication. His interest in Black consciousness became activated and focused when he began studying Sociology at age 17. In 1978, he returned with his Trinidadian parents to the Caribbean. Today, he is the Trinidad and Eastern Caribbean Representative of the Honourable Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.[2]

Muhammad returned to the U.K. in 1991. In 1992, he joined the Nation of Islam at the N.O.I. South London mosque. After returning to Trinidad he began lecturing in December, and officially began the N.O.I. Trinidad study group in January 1993.[3][4] Muhammad has since widely lectured not only across Trinidad and Tobago but Antigua, Guyana, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and St. Croix and also in London, England, New York, Miami, Houston, Chicago and Detroit. In 1996, he ventured into radio. Today he continues to be one of the leaders in talk-radio, and is widely recognized for his factual and thought provoking commentaries. Over the years, he has managed to consistently top MFO surveys, peaking at a 14% listenership share. Muhammad has appeared on television, radio and newspaper features across the Caribbean. In 2013 he was listed as one of the Top 10 Personalities of the Year [5] by the New York based “Caribbean People Newspaper.” On the same day he was featured in the UK Gleaner Newspaper based in England speaking on Caribbean Unity.

Muhammad has a Double Major Bachelor Degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI 2007) in Sociology and Education and is currently engaged in PhD research at the University of the West Indies (UWI). He also holds a Teacher’s Diploma from the Valsayn College; now University of Trinidad & Tobago (UTT). He has been the Manager [6] of the Trinidad & Tobago National Senior Men’s Football Team, the “Soca Warriors” for 87 matches from 2007-2011 and was reappointed in 2013.

David Muhammad is an accomplished guitarist and has done several hours of 4-track recordings. He is also a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu Karate and a student of world renowned Professor Don Jacob of Purple Dragon International.

He is the host of The Black Agenda, a Trinidad and Tobago based radio show that discusses racial issues in the Caribbean.[7][8][9] Prior to joining Street 91.9fm, Muhammad worked at POWER 102FM for 10 years from 2002-2012; WACK Radio from 2012 to 2013, and has also hosted programs on Radio Trinidad 730AM, Ebony 104FM and I 95.5FM.
