David L. Katz (born 20 February 1963 in Los Angeles, California)[1] is a nutritionist and the founding director of the Prevention Research Center at Yale University, as well as an associate professor of public health practice at the Yale University School of Medicine. In 2005, Katz was appointed the associate director for nutrition science at the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale.[2] In addition to authoring over 100 scientific papers, Katz has written countless newspaper and magazine articles, including a recurring column in O which has been published continuously since March 2002, and has brought more than $20 million in research funds to Yale University. In 2000, Katz began advocating for integrative medicine when he founded the Integrative Medicine Center at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. He has been a member of the governing board of the American College of Preventive Medicine since 2002, and has also been president of the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine since 2004.[3]

Education

Katz received his BA degree from Dartmouth College, his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and his MPH from the Yale School of Public Health. He is board certified in internal medicine, as well as preventive medicine.

Charity work

Dr. Katz is the founder and President of the non-profit Turn the Tide Foundation.[4]

Personal life

Dr. Katz lives in Connecticut with his wife, Catherine, and their children Valerie, Natalia and Gabriel.[5]
