David J. Gallitano

David 'Dave' Gallitano (born 1948) is the CEO, Chairman of the Board and Director of WellCare Health Plans Inc. He is also the Director of Hanover Insurance Group, Inc.[1]

Early life and education

Mr. Gallitano received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago.[2]

Career

Mr. Gallitano served as the president and CEO of General Electric Mortgage Capital Corp from 1984 to 1986.[3] He was executive vice president at PaineWebber Inc., where he was the head of the Principal Transactions Group from 1986 until 1993.[1]

Beginning in 1993 Gallitano held the positions of chairman and CEO of Columbia National, Inc, a company that finances real estate ventures. He held this position until 2002.[3] In 2002 Gallitano became the president of the private investment firm Tucker Advisors, a position which he still holds today.[3] From 2003 until 2005 he was the chairman and CEO of APW|APW, Ltd, a company that manufactures specialized industrial products.[3] From 2004 until 2007 he served on the board of the Wild Oats Corp.[4] In 2009 Gallitano joined the board of WellCare, at the same time that Alec Cunningham became CEO.[5]

Gallitano became the chairman of WellCare on May 22, 2013.[5][6]

In November, 2013 WellCare Health Plans Inc, fired their CEO Alec Cunningham and replaced him on a temporary basis with Gallitano until a permanent successor could be found,[5] however he still holds this position as of December, 2014. He served on the board of the Hanover Insurance Group Inc from February 2006 until June 2014.[4]
