David Humble

David Humble is a retired male badminton player from Canada.

Career

Humble competed in badminton at the 1992 Summer Olympics in men's singles. He lost in the first round to Darren Hall, of Great Britain, 15-6, 15-4.

Dave is a well known man at the Master’s Nationals, especially to his opponents in the 35+ category, where he has earned 9 titles in the last 4 years. This only adds to his impressive achievements which include 9 national titles, finalist at the Irish and Welsh Open in 1991, Commonwealth Games Team Silver Medallist in 1990 and a trip to the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992. His home club growing up was the Derrick Golf and Winter Club in Edmonton where one of his favourite coaches was a jolly Englishman by the name of Keith Arthur who had two stints as head professional there. Starting his coaching career part-time as a teen, Dave’s first full-time position was at the Calgary Winter Club in 1989. Leaving the CWC in 1994, Dave coached in Australia, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Edmonton before returning to the Calgary Winter Club in 2001, where this NCCP level 3 certified coach is currently working full-time. Now living in Calgary, he is happily married with two boys, ages 10 and 12. An accomplished badminton player and coach, his most memorable moments included walking on the Great Wall of China and entering the Olympic stadium in Barcelona during the opening ceremonies of the 1992 Olympics. Dave’s most memorable match ever was playing Morten Frost in an exhibition match in England where he lost in two close games.
