David Edward Satterfield III (December 2, 1920 – September 30, 1988) was a U.S. Representative from Virginia's 3rd congressional district. He served eight consecutive terms from 1965 until 1981. His father, Dave E. Satterfield, Jr., served in the House of Representatives from 19371945.

Biography

Prior to his election to the House of Representatives, Satterfield served as an assistant United States attorney from 19501953, a Richmond city councilman from 19541956, and in the Virginia House of Delegates from 19601964.

He was admitted to the bar in both Virginia and the District of Columbia. He practiced law in Richmond, and, after he left Congress, in Washington, D.C. and Arlington, Virginia.
