Dave Howie

David Dickie Howie (?–19 January 1916, Aged 27) was a Scottish rugby union player for Scotland and Kirkcaldy RFC.[1] He died in the First World War.[2] he is buried at the Cairo war Memorial Cemetery. He was a member of the Royal Field Artillery

He was capped seven times for Scotland between 1912–13. He also played for Kirkcaldy RFC.[1]

Family

Dave Howie was the brother of Bob Howie, who also played for Kirkcaldy and gained seven national caps, in the 1920s.[3]

Although he and his brother gained fourteen caps between them, their father, a grim farmer never watched them once, saying:

"Rugby an' fermin' will no agree, an' A ken which'll pit mair money in yer pooch."[4]
