David Robert Berry (born 14 September 1978 in Lewisham, London)^[1] is an English TV and radio presenter. He co-presents Capital Breakfast, London's most popular breakfast show on Capital London with over 1.2 million listeners daily.

Career

Berry began working in a South London clothes shop, Bullfrogs . Around this time, Berry was approached and signed by a modelling agency which led him to front campaigns for high-profile brands such as Ted Baker, French Connection, Toni & Guy and Burton. In the Summer of 2009, Berry co-founded and opened English tailors October House ,^[2] a luxury English tailoring brand with Neil Fennell. The brand has fitted several men in entertainment including: David Gandy,^[3] Scott Parker,^[4] Miles Kane, Mark Cavendish, Jamie Scallion and Johnny Harris.

Television

Berry began his television presenting career on Nickelodeon UK, where he gained a BAFTA nomination for his work on n-List.^[5]

In late 2002, Berry was signed by MTV UK, where along with hosting shows such as the Hitlist UK and fronting coverage for the MTV Europe Music Awards, he launched and was the anchor for MTV UK's TRL UK,^[6] which aired daily for three years ending in December 2005. In 2006, Berry took over from Cat Deeley as the host of ITV1's music show CD:UK.

Berry's other TV projects include, for Channel 4, Football Anthems, HomeMade,^[7] I'm With The Band, Take Away My Takeaway,^[8] Carling Live 24, Vodafone TBA, live V Festival coverage from 2005 - 2009,^[9] two series of student quiz The Deadly Knowledge Show^[10] as well as a number of movie junkets. For ITV, ITV2 and ITV4, The Brit Awards: Red Carpet/Party On, six series of the iTunes Festival,^[11] Beat TV,^[12] Soccer Aid,^[13] chat show The Hot Desk (seven series to date), and coverage of the Isle of Wight Festival 2010. Berry also delivers his own unique take on news events on ITVs This Morning.

Other presenting work includes Only Fools on Horses on Three, for Sport Relief on BBC Three, and for Five, Make Me a Supermodel,^[14] Tsunami Aid and The Beat Goes On, a show created and developed by Ant & Dec for Berry to host.^[15] Berry also hosted the 2009 World Free Running Championships in Trafalgar Square on Saturday 15 August, covered by television stations in UK and US.

Berry has appeared as a guest on Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Big Brother's Little Brother, Loose Women, Celebrity Juice, as well as featuring twice on MTV Cribs.

Berry hosts Real Stories on T4, The Hot Desk for ITV2, and since October 2012, acts as a roving reporter on Surprise Surprise presented by Holly Willoughby. ^[16][17]

In 2013, Berry was a regular panellist on the ITV panel show Through the Keyhole, hosted by Keith Lemon.

Radio

Berry's radio career began on Capital Radio in 2007 where he presented the Saturday afternoon show. Soon after, he was employed by alternative indie rock station XFM^[18] whose previous presenters include Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Simon Pegg, Jimmy Carr and Russell Brand. Berry hosted the Dave Berry Saturday Show which ran every Saturday for 12 weeks, before he was offered the XFM drivetime show which he presented for close to two years. He later moved to the XFM Breakfast Show slot,^[19] achieving some of the highest RAJAR figures in XFM's history.^[20]

On 3 April 2011, it was announced that Berry would move back to Capital Radio (now known as Capital London), to present the weekend breakfast show at the end of the month, leaving XFM,^[21] where his final show was broadcast on 15 April 2011.^[21]

On 25 December 2011, Berry presented his final weekend Capital London', after the announcement that he would replace Johnny Vaughan on Capital Breakfast on 3 January 2012.^[22] He now co-hosts the Capital Breakfast (London) show alongside Lisa Snowdon every weekday morning from 6am - 10am.^[23]

Berry has won Capital Breakfast a TRIC Award for Best Radio/ Digital Radio Programme and has he has previously been nominated for a Rose D’Or Award, Broadcast Award, BAFTA Award, New York Radio Award and twice nominated for a Lafta.

Journalism

In April 2011, Berry contributed to online men's lifestyle magazine Blokely^[24][25] and began a lifestyle blog for the news website Huffington Post UK in July 2012.^[26] Berry has also contributed to the men's magazine Maxim.^[27]

Personal life

Berry dated Sugababes singer Heidi Range from 2003 until December 2011.^[28][29]

Berry is a supporter of Charlton Athletic, and in 2012, was appointed an ambassador for the Charlton Athletic Community Trust.^[30]

Berry is also an active supporter of Demelza Hospice Care for Children, which operates in south east London, Kent and East Sussex.
