History
Date Station opened on April 1, 1895, as Nagaoka Station (長岡駅 Nagaoka-eki). The station was renamed o its present name on December 1, 1914. The current station building was completed in 1939. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) on April 1, 1987.
