Fictional character biography

Darren Cross is a millionaire who was responsible for creating Cross Technological Enterprises where it became a success to rival it's top competitors. During his life, Darren was diagnosed with a rare heart condition and had to use an experimental nucleorganic pacemaker in order to save his life. Despite being a success, the pacemaker mutated Darren's body where it gave him superhuman abilities where it's side-effect from overuse would burn out his heart. Darren went through various heart transplants because of this which led him to capture heart surgeon Dr. Erica Sondheim to replace his heart as well as abducting "donors" from the slums.[1] This attracted the attention of Ant-Man who was looking for Dr. Sondheim in order to have her save the life of his daughter Cassandra Lang. The resulting battle with Ant-Man burned out Darren's heart as Dr. Sondheim mentioned that she gave him an old heart instead upon Ant-Man crashing the surgery.[2] After what happened to Darren, his son Augustine took over as the head of Cross Technological Enterprises.[3]

It was revealed that Darren Cross' body was kept in a cryogenic state. Augustine became obsessed with bringing his father back to life and eventually forced Dr. Sondheim to help him.[4] Enlisting his father's cousin Crossfire, Augustine had orchestrated the capture of Cassandra Lang as her heart is required to withstand the unique conditions when transplanted into his father. When Scott Lang infiltrated Cross Technological Enterprises to rescue Cassandra, he came across a reborn Darren Cross.[5]

Powers and abilities
