History

Born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts Dan Quirk’s interest in the automotive world began with his parents, who hadn’t owned a car. [1] Following his military service he began his work as a pipe-fitter and soon after, in 1973, bought his first used car dealership. Four years later he purchased his first new Chevrolet car dealership in Braintree, MA. [2]

From there, Dan Quirk saw success in the industry. Currently, he owns 11 dealerships in Massachusetts and 4 in Manchester, NH. He also owns several other businesses such as the Quincy Auto Auction, an international auto parts business, and real estate holdings. Some of his real estate includes 112 acres of the former Fore River Shipyard, which has helped produce multiple films in the past decade and continues to serve as an ideal location as a movie studio and soundstage. After over 35 years of business, he has earned an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. [3][4]

Dan Quirk holds 12 brands including Mazda, Nissan, Ford, Subaru, Kia, Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Volkswagen. Over 1,000 employees currently work for all of the dealerships. He also has an auto parts store located near his 4 dealerships in Manchester NH.

Community involvement

Quirk is known for giving back to his local community through various charitable activities. Quirk is part of the South Shore Hospital Presidents Circle [5] donating more than $25,000 to the South Shore Hospital. Dan Quirk is deeply involved with charitable health care and veterans causes.

Quirk has created a “Tech Team” of students from several high schools in Massachusetts as well frequently hiring local students as interns at different locations and for varied positions. Dan believes, “there are so many smart young people out there,” and working with Quirk is, “a great experience for the kids, learning about a business, technology, and dealing with people.” [6]

Every year Quirk teams up with Toys for Tots by setting up toy collection bins in all of his Massachusetts and New Hampshire dealerships [7]

In 2002, Quirk purchased the long abandoned Fore River Shipyard at federal auction. He plans to turn the 111 acre waterfront property into rooms for retail, office, and residential properties, as well as a marine industrial component.[8]

Recent efforts to remodel the Marshfield Skate Park have been supported by Quirk Auto Dealers, who became a premium partner, donating $55,000 towards the construction of the new park. [9]
