Daniel Blades, Lord Blades
Daniel Patterson Blades FRSE LLB (25 August 1888 – 6 February 1959) was a Scottish judge.
Life
The son of Rev. Charles Blades, Minister of Allanton, and Sarah Pow of Armadale, he was educated at Berwickshire High School and at Edinburgh University.
He was admitted as an advocate in 1915, and served as a 2nd Lieutenant[1] in the Cameron Highlanders from 1915-1918. He served as an Advocate Depute from 1929-1932, when he was appointed a King's Counsel and Sheriff of Forfar. In 1934 he moved to be Sheriff of Perth and Angus, a post he held until 1945 when he was appointed Solicitor General for Scotland. In 1947 he was appointed a Senator of the College of Justice, with the judicial title Lord Blades.
Family
In 1918 he married Gertrude Thonson Legge.[2]
