"Dance" on YouTube

"Dance" is a song by Romanian recording artist Alexandra Stan from her second studio album Unlocked. It is a dance-pop song containing digitally adapted saxophone elements. Recorded at Fonogram Studios, the song was produced by Romanian songwriter and producer Alexandru Cotoi and Swedish songwriter and producer Erik Lidbom. "Dance" gained very much attention in Japan, where it was the most successful song on the Japanese ZIP Dance FM, which is the most successful FM in Japan and Asia.

The song was also released on German label Kontor Records, and is the opening track on the label's compilation Kontor Top of the Clubs 2014.04.[2]

Music video and critical reception

The official music video premiered on 18 July 2014 on YouTube.[3] Drected by Khaled Mokhtar and choreographed by Emil Rengle, it shows Stan dancing as well as male and female dancers. The video was filmed at three different locations in Bucharest in three days. Directlyrics gave the song and its music video a very good review , saying that:

"Dance" is MUCH better than "Cherry Pop". "...Loving to hear the saxophone back and overall the sound of “Dance” has enough summer flavour to do well this upcoming hot season. “Dance” is a song about falling in love on the dancefloor. Now wouldn’t that be a great story to tell your children? Love can be anywhere!"[4]

Markos Papadatos from digitaljournal.com gave it also a good review:

"...The song's beat is reminiscent of Kesha's "Die Young" meets Alexandra Stan's very own "Mr. Saxobeat." It has a catchy melody to it that will just inspire her fans and listeners to get up and dance. Emil Rengle has choreographed the dancers and Stan in the video exceptionally well.

The lyrics start out rebellious yet they turn into positive and optimistic. "In my dreams you're falling, you're falling, you're falling down, I'm breaking, I'm breaking your rules, I really believe you can try and change your ways," Stan sings. "By the time you'll know I'm gonna take your hand, Won't let you go, We'll lose our mind, We'll lose our mind." I love how it ends subtle, with Stan singing the closing lyrics backed by acoustic guitar, displaying her honey-rich voice. "Why don't you dance dance dance, And fall in love with friends, let's start a new romance," she sings. It is safe to say that the Romanian songstress herself, Alexandra Stan looks breathtakingly beautiful in this video and the singles deserves to go No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs charts..."[5]
