Dana Vespoli (born September 22, 1972) is the stage name of an American pornographic actress and film director.[1]

Early life

Vespoli was born in September 22, 1972 in San Francisco, California. Her mother came to the United States to give birth and then traveled out of the country as soon as she could. Vespoli traveled a lot as a small child, and lived in a lot of different places because her father, who was from Thailand, flew in the service and then did commercial flying. She spent her formative years in Oregon, where she lived for elementary through high school, and went to university in the Bay Area.[5]

Vespoli attended the Mills College, an independent liberal arts and sciences college in the Oakland, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in comparative literature.[2]

Right after finishing College, she worked a bit in the Financial District, and as a dancer at Mitchell Brothers. She then moved to Los Angeles as it became challenging for her to make any money.[6]

Career

Vespoli started working as a stripper in 1996 using the stage name "Christa" at the Mitchell Brothers in San Francisco. There she met other pornstars like Nina Hartley, Kylie Ireland and Marilyn Chambers.[3][4] She entered the adult film industry at the age of 31 years.[7] Her first scene was with Faith Lamour in Cockless 26 for Ed Powers Productions in 2003.[2]

After about eight months Vespoli stopped doing scenes for a little bit. She took a break from about a year and a half, and then came back in august of 2005.[5]

Vespoli started directing in January 2006.[8] In April of that year, she began directing for Digital Sin.[9] She currently directs for Sweetheart Video and Evil Angel.[4][7][10] Her performance as a director was very well received by critics and received several nominations for the industry's awards for her work.

In 2011, Complex ranked her thirteenth on their list of "The Top 50 Hottest Asian Porn Stars of All Time".[11]

In 2014, Break.com ranked her thirtyfirst on their list of "40 Best Asian Porn Stars Today".[12]

In July 2014, Vespoli issued a warning that fraudulent email has been sent to other Adult industry performers with the sender pretending to be her and asking the recipients how "she" can contact them for more details. This was similar to email that had been discovered earlier in May using director Axel Braun's name in the same way.[13]

Personal life

Vespoli married pornographic actor Manuel Ferrara in January 2005.[3] The couple divorced seven years later.[4] They have three sons together.[14] On November 14, 2014, ABC aired an episode of 20/20 titled "The New Sex," which was centered around Ferrara's relationship with Kayden Kross and includes an interview with Vespoli.[15]
