Dan Webb (born 13 August 1989), is an Australian keyboardist, singer and songwriter.
Career
Webb has garnered much attention for his spontaneous and energetic live shows.[1] One of Webb's most notable stage antics involves him playing his keyboard behind his back, in a style similar to Jimi Hendrix.[2] He headlined an east coast tour of Australia in support of the release of 'Hyperspace Clearance' in September/October 2010. It was around this time that he added horn players Ari Farrar and Kieran Conrau from The Cat Empire to his regular band lineup. In 2011 he played five shows in a UK tour, played two sets at St Kilda Festival and supported Conway Savage (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds). He also began performing as a session keyboardist, touring nationally with Melbourne rock band Johnny Rock and the Limits as well as playing two shows with Canadian artist Michael Mooney.
In February 2012 Webb performed with Kylie Auldist, acclaimed vocalist from funk/soul band The Bamboos during St Kilda Festival's Live N Local week.[2] 2012 also saw him tour New Zealand for the first time, ending with a set at Newtown Festival in Wellington, with Barrett Hocking from The Black Seeds filling in on trumpet.
Webb released demos of twelve original songs for free download from his official website in 2013. The first track to be released, "Departure" featured Auldist on co-vocals.[3] It received airplay on The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC Radio 6 Music on 26 January 2013.[4] Webb played seven shows in January and February 2013 on his most extensive Australian tour to date. His show at The Workers Club in Melbourne on 7 February featured his full band as well as vocalists Auldist and Bobby Flynn.[5]
His first full-length album 'Sandstorm' was released in May 2014.[6] The first single "Sleep" featured Logie Award nominated actress Ashleigh Cummings on co-vocals in her recording debut.[7]
