Dan Klein

Daniel Klein is an American computer scientist and associate professor of computer science at the University of California, Berkeley.

He was educated at Mt. Lebanon High School and was awarded BA in mathematics, computer science, and linguistics by Cornell University, a Master of Studies (MSt) in linguistics by Oxford University and a Ph.D. by Stanford University.

His research focuses on natural language processing and using computational methods to automatically acquire models of human languages. Examples include large-scale systems for language understanding as well as computational linguistics projects, such as the reconstruction of ancient languages.

His honors and awards include a Marshall scholarship, the ACM's Grace Murray Hopper Award, the Sloan Research Fellowship, the NSF CAREER Award, and the Microsoft New Faculty Fellowship.

He has published numerous papers.
