Professor Dale Sanders, FRS (born 13 May 1953) is a director of the John Innes Centre,[2] an internationally leading institute for research in plant sciences and microbiology in Norwich, England.

Education

Sanders was educated at The Hemel Hempstead School. He gained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of York followed by a PhD from Darwin College, Cambridge in 1978.[1]

Research

Sanders specialist area is membrane transport and signal transduction[3] in plants as well as the mechanisms of heavy metal and calcium transport.[4][5][6][7]

Career

Following his PhD, Sanders did five years of postdoctoral research at Yale School of Medicine, Yale University.[2] Before moving to Norwich, he was Head of the Department of Biology at the University of York.

In 2014, under his directorship, the John Innes Centre established new collaborations with the Chinese Academy of Sciences.[8]
