Dakota Daulby (born October 10, 1994) is a Canadian film and television actor, producer, director, and screenwriter.
Personal life
Daulby was born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.[1] He spends his time between his home town of Maple Ridge and Vancouver.[1] He discovered his love for acting as a young teen after witnessing the musical production of Blast! at the Broadway Theatre. Currently, a full-time student at New Image College of Fine Arts, Daulby works consistently to balance his schooling with his acting career.[2] He started his two year acting program under the department head and Gemini Award winning actor, writer, director, and producer Phil Granger and completes the program by the September of 2014.[3][4]
Career
Daulby got his first break after landing the lead role in the award-winning short film "Why Does God Hate Me?" which was featured at the prestigious New York Film Festival as well as at numerous film festivals across North America and around the world.[3][5] His hard work paid off after landing the starring role in the feature film "The Woodcarver," alongside John Ratzenburger,[2][6] and then was tapped to co-star as the corky character in the Leo Award-winning big screen adaptation "Sitting On the Edge of Marlene" - from the short story "The Trouble With Marlene" by award-winning Canadian author, Billie Livingston.[2][7] Dakota's supporting roles on television have included the series Spooksville, and he'll next can be seen as a featured recurring role on the fourth season of Academy Award winning executive producer Steven Spielberg's Falling Skies.[2][8][9] Daulby portrays the ruthless Nazi-esque, yet charming head of the Espheni brainwashing camps, Kent Matthews, on Falling Skies; on the show, he worked closely with Maxim Knight, Noah Wyle, Will Patton, Doug Jones and Colin Cunningham.[10] He will also star in the edgy and intense Canadian horror thriller, Black Fly which will be released at international film festivals later this year.[11][10] Daulby has also co-written and will co-direct and co-produce with Amir Aghelnejad an extended short, dark comedy about the seven stages of grief.[2]
