Daisi Pollard

Daisi "Jo" Pollard Sepúlveda is a Jamaican Beauty Pageant Winner, International Model, television personality and businesswoman who became a popular person of interest in 2005 when she was crowned Miss Jamaica International. Pollard was the first Jamaican candidate in history to compete in the Miss Earth 2005, Miss Asia Pacific 2005 and Miss Beauty Queen World and the only known candidate to represent three different countries.

Daisi Pollard was most notable for her on stage protest on poor treatment by the pageant organizers at the Miss Asia Pacific 2005. During the pageant's final dress rehearsal, Pollard was escorted off the stage after protesting irregularities and she interrupted the taping by walking across the stage to the microphone and loudly protesting. Daisi was escorted off stage and judges were eventually removed from the rehearsal.[1]

Career

As a model, Daisi Pollard's body of work includes participating in Los Angeles Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, LA Urban Fashion Week, Jam Vibez magazine,[2] Reggae Planet, Gap, Old Navy, MTV, Lifetimes How To Look Good Naked (episode 2.2), Bravo’s Launch My Line "Bare Minimal" (episode 4) and Good Day LA. She has also appeared on international networks TVJ and CVM's Smile Jamaica and Star World ABS-CBN in Asia. She made her film debut in King of the Streets by Laguna Productions and followed by up with Box of Shadows [3] (2010) by Fotocomics Productions.

In 2011 Daisi Pollard reentered the pageant scene again representing Jamaican married women after marrying Martial Arts Champion and Stuntman, David Sepúlveda Low. Reclaiming her nickname, "Daisi Jo", Mrs. Pollard Sepúlveda won the crown for Jamaica as Mrs. Ethnic World International 2012.[4] During the competition, Daisi performed Japanese Martial Arts Shuriken Jutsu [5] was sponsored by Laurie Elyse,[6] The Grammy Museum [7] and several Martial Arts companies.[8]

Charity

An advocate for education, Pollard used her Miss Jamaica International 2005 title to promote computer & technology literacy with the CCGI throughout Jamaica in which she gained the support of several Jamaican politicians including Governor General Sir Howard Cooke, the Mayor of Kingston, Desmond McKenzie, Minister of Education, Maxine Henry Wilson and the Jamaica Tourist Board. Pollard toured as a keynote speaker for Barbizon International from 2006-2008 to promote their $100,000 scholarship program.

Daisi Pollard Sepulveda is an Honorary Chair for the National Meningitis Association [9]
