Daescher technique

DDR (East German) stamp - Memorial for the Ski Jumper. The ski jumper shown in the top center of the stamp is demonstrating the Daescher technique.

The Däscher technique or parallel style[1] is a ski jumping technique that was created by Andreas Däscher of Switzerland. It was created in the 1950s as a modification of the Kongsberger technique, in which the arms are placed backward toward the hips for a closer lean. The Däscher technique would become the standard for ski jumping until the development of the modern V-technique, popularised by Jan Boklöv of Sweden in 1985.
