Kaajal Bakrania (born 6 August 1983), better known by her stage name Kayper, is a DJ, Producer and Radio Presenter from the United Kingdom.
Kayper began djing at the young age of 12 before playing in bars and clubs around South London in 1998 at the young age of 15. She currently works as a DJ around the world and lives in London [1] She is of Gujarati descent.[2]
Kayper was the first ever female winner of The Daily Telegraph Student DJ of the Year (2003).[3] The same year Kayper won national recognition by becoming the first ever female to win the Vestax Juice DJ competition. She is currently holds the award for Best Club DJ at The London Bar & Club Awards.[4]
DJ Kayper on the BBC
Since 17 May 2006, Kayper presents a weekly show on BBC Asian Network. Originally the show was called "The Hype Show", and was broadcast on Wednesday from 22:00 to 01:00. It was renamed "DJ Kayper" and broadcast on Friday nights at the same hours. Kayper played a mix of "hip hop, house, dubstep and mashups.[5]
DJ Kayper's last live show on the BBC Asian Network was on the 12th of October 2012. It included special guests that had supported Kayper, and that Kayper had supported too. It also included messages from Mistajam, Jazzy Jeff as well as from her old and new production team [6]
DJ Kayper final show on the BBC Asian Network which was a pre-recorded show was broadcast on 19 October 2012.[7]
Club DJ
Since 2011 Kayper has been resident DJ at The Box (London and NYC). She also performed at Coachella's Neon Carnival in 2012, 2013 and was invited by Chris Martin to play at Gwyneth Paltrow's birthday party in France as the couple had been fans of Kayper's radio show [8]
As a club DJ, Kayper has headlined at some of the worlds most renowned nightclubs including London’s Ministry of Sound and Bar Rumba, New York City’s famed SOB’s, The Knitting Factory and Joe’s Pub. She has also performed at Space Club Firenze, Malaysia’s Zouk Club, Johannesburg’s Coca Cola Dome, Ibiza’s El Divino and Mumbai’s largest Prive.
In 2010, Kayper toured Australia visiting Adelaide, Melbourne and then Perth. She regularly tours America.
In 2012 Kayper won Best Club DJ at The London Bar & Club Awards. DJ Jazzy Jeff called Kayper 'the best female DJ I have seen in my whole life' [9]
In 2011 DJ Kayper won Best Club DJ at the UK Asian Music Awards.[10]
In 2003, DJ Kayper broke a record by becoming the first ever female to win the Vestax Juice DJ Competition which prompted Vestax to sponsor her as a DJ.

In 2011 Kayper produced a single for Engine Earz Experiment which was released on Diplo's record label [11]
Promoter
Kayper launched her own club night called Ebonics in 2004 at the Cambridge Fez Club.
