DCD (company)

DCD (formerly DCD-Dorbyl) is a South African manufacturer and supplier of engineering solutions to the rail, mining & energy, defence and marine sectors.

DCD was originally established in 1946 as DCD Dorbyl (Pty) Limited, a merger of Dorman Long and Vanderbijl Engineering Corporation.[1] It rebranded in 2012 as "DCD". (DCD is not connected with the JSE-listed Dorbyl Limited.)

The company specializes in engineering projects, including rail and military defence vehicle engineering, roller manufacturing, marine engineering and mine engineering.[1][2] The current managing director is Mr Robert King following up from Mr Louis C J Taljaard.[2]

In February 2010, Westinghouse and DCD- Dorbyl announced cooperation on creating a plant for building modules for AP1000 reactors.[3]
