Dayanand Anglo Vedic Public School (DAV), Safilguda is a school in Hyderabad, India. It follows the CBSE curriculum. It is situated in Neredmet, Hyderabad and has about 3,200 students.

The School

DAV Safilguda was established in 1985 as the first DAV School under the South Zone regional directorate of the DAVCMC (DAV College Management Committee, New Delhi). It follows the CBSE Curriculum. The school has extensive co-cirricular activities and strives to constantly improve teaching methodologies, providing excellence not only in education, but also in character building.

The school believes in invidiual development and thinking apt to the mordern ideas coupled with ancient Indian values. Education is given not through simple lectures, but with deeply passionate driven activities that bring in the true essence of the ideas in education.

Apart from regular overwhelmingly interesting classes with a personal touch, DAV Safilguda is keen on activities emphasising active citizenship, socially conscious students, environment friendly activities and a global outlook of the mordern day world.

DAV Safilguda follows the house system, with four houses: Dayanand, Virjanand,Shraddhanand and Hansraj.

Facilities

DAV Safilguda lays emphasis on both academic and extra curricular activities through promotion of Sports, Music, Martial Arts, and participation in National and International Exhibitions and Workshops.

The facilities include a full- fledged library with over 20,000 books, fully equipped laboratories for Math and all branches of Science, ICT enabled digital labs for Math, Science, Social sciences and English,collaboration with NIIT through e-Guru, ICT in Classrooms, Smart Labs for learning through Information Technology. Other facilities include Cricket camps, facilities for other sports like volleyball, basketball, throw ball, kho-kho, Table Tennis among others, a full fledged Gym replete with all the necessary sports and gym equipment and the Viswanath Anand's Mind Champion Academy.

The school focuses on learning through Teaching with specialist programs for teachers including the Teacher Enrichment Program, Holistic education through Responsible participation in Social Causes. The other activities where students are actively encouraged include painting, gardening, clay modelling, Yoga, public speaking, drama, debates, educational tours, social service activities etc. Special classes are held on a daily basis for the primary section in Karate, Kungfu, Chess, Dance & Music (both Classical and Folk). Science and Literary Clubs also from part of the activities.

Achievements

DAV Safilguda has been awarded the coveted ISA (International School Award) instituted by the British Council to promote internationalism in learning in the year 2013.[1] Mrs.Seetha Kiran, the principal of DAV Safilguda, received the 'National Award to Teachers' in the year 2009[2] from the then President of India, Pratibha Patil.

The school topper for the CBSE board exam 2003 scored 97.4% which is the second highest aggregate for all Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Schools System ("DAV") schools in India. In the category of DAV schools in India sending batches of strength of 100-200 students for the CBSE board exam, DAVPS, Safilguda has been placed first. According to the stipulations of the Public School Cell involved in the task of analyzing the results of all DAV Public Schools in the CBSE examinations, the qualitative performance of DAVPS, Safilguda, has been assessed on a five point scale and placed in the category ‘Very Good’, with the qualitative performance index for Class X being 78.08%.
