The Cypriot national basketball team is the national team of Cyprus. It is run by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. It is affiliated to FIBA, in the FIBA Europe zone.

History

The team participates at international and European tournaments. The only international tournament it took part in 2005, were the World University Games, where it finished 26th out of 30 participating nations.

Cyprus national basketball team was two-time Promotion Cup finalist (1990, 1994).

The team's results have improved considerably in recent years. Cyprus has repeatedly retained the European minor countries tournament since 1995, while Cyprus made their first appearance in a Eurobasket semifinal phase in 2003.

Currently, Cyprus plays in Division B of the Eurobasket system. The team participates in the Group B of the EuroBasket 2009 B Qualifying Campaign and has opponents the national teams of Belarus, Switzerland, Romania and Albania. The matches are taking place in September 2008.
