History[1]
Cwmamman United started their history in 1976 in the Neath & District League Division 3. Our first success came in Season 1980-81 when we were promoted to the second division. In Season 1981-82 Cwmamman entered a reserve side in Division 4 of the same league. Further success came for the 1st team as they were once again promoted to Division 1 in 1983-84 season. It wasn’t long before (season 1985-86) when Cwmamman were promoted to the Premier League. The next few seasons were an up and down affair with relegation from the premier being followed by promotion back to the premier. Cwmamman were then relegated once more and didn’t return to the Premier until season 1998-99 and in that season finished runners-up and played in a play off game against Garden Village to enter the Welsh League which we lost 3-0 after extra time. Cwmamman finally won the Premier Division in season 2001-02 and then entered the Welsh League for season 2002-03. Cwmamman were relegated from the Welsh League in season 2010-11 after finishing 4th from bottom and were relegated due to the restructure of the Welsh League.
Our greatest achievements for our reserve side was winning the reserve division 1 cup in season 1998-99 and the league title in 2000-01. Our third team have also tasted success with winning the league and cup double in season 2006-07. We also have a thriving youth/junior set up with again the achievement which stands out above the others is winning the West Wales Football Junior Cup at under 14s level in 1999-2000. We currently run for season 2009-10 eight junior teams along with our three senior teams.
Last season as well as our first team narrowly missing out on promotion to the Welsh League Division 2 our Reserve Division 2 side in the Neath League achieved a League and Cup double whilst our Division 2 side won the Division 2 title for the first time in the Clubs History. A superb season for the Club, which ended with yet another successful season. Cwmamman opened their new changing facilities in 2000 at a cost of 180k with further ground improvements coming at a cost of a further 100k. Our next project was hard standing all around the ground which we managed to get the funding for at a cost of 13k. We have recently achieved funding of 40k for ournew training floodlights. We now move on to our next project which is to extend our dressing rooms to incorporate a function/sponsors lounge and to complete our impressive floodlights on the other side of the ground. We strive to grow on and off the pitch every season.
